Volunteers of all skill levels are needed, from carpenters to painters to lunch-makers – contact the church office for information. The Glen is located off Marshland Road. The FPC House is at the end of Habitat Circle, turn left off Alex Patterson Drive.
First Presbyterian Church sponsored three Habitat for Humanity houses in Bluffton’s Brendan Woods community several years ago, and contributed toward a Habitat house in Papua, New Guinea. A lot has happened since then. The Hilton Head Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity has begun a new community, its first on Hilton Head Island, named The Glen, just off Marshland Road on Alex Patterson Drive. Now our Outreach Ministry and Session have approved a goal of FPC sponsoring two houses in this new community. This means that we contribute the funds for two houses and the volunteers to help to build houses at The Glen.
We are excited about this outreach project where we as a church family can help provide simple, decent housing for our neighbors. This Christian organization has built 100 homes in Beaufort and Jasper counties and more than 800,000 houses world-wide. Nearly 200 families applied for the first phase of 16 houses now being built at The Glen. So we know there is a need. The family members who occupy these homes pay no-interest mortgage loans and provide sweat-equity in their construction.
We look forward to your generous participation in this worthy program in both financial giving and, for those who are able, help with construction. Click the link for the form below to become a supporter or to volunteer.
