Christmas in the summertime?

The first week in June, FPC Kids Summer Campers – as one of many awesome activities that week – will pack shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (OCC). This ministry reaches children in more than 100 countries, bringing a bit of Christmas cheer. "Last year we filled 506 shoeboxes," says Robin Swift, who organizes the ministry at FPC with co-chair Martha Phillips. The two work year-round, always keeping an eye out and shopping the best deals (low prices) on small items of interest to children.

After the camp kickoff, lots of other folks at FPC will work throughout the summer to pack shoeboxes - small groups, FPC Youth, adult class members, the Rays (from Pockets Full of Sunshine), and the list goes on. In addition to volunteers, the ministry needs more small items. All are asked to visit the OCC ministry table the next few Sundays to get the list and learn more about this meaningful ministry.

“This year we hope to send just as many, if not more shoeboxes!" says Swift. "When combined with those from lots of other churches, we'll be able to bring Christmas joy to thousands of children.”
